Real life gems!

I have always been fascinated by gemstones and their mysterious powers. I had always hoped to someday write a poem on them. So here is one!

Each one I see!

I look around the world I live in,
And wonder about the people I see;
Each one wears a resplendent necklace
That shines through them at me!

Some wear a diamond, pure and true,
Some, a ruby, brimming with virtue,
I spot an amethyst, reflecting royal dignity
Oh! There’s the sapphire, radiating positivity!

Passion and insight emanate from someone’s pearl
Adventure and courage, from a gleaming coral,
The turquoise, yielding strength and security,
Matched evenly by the emerald, healing mind and body!

Some wear a topaz, cool and calm,
Some, an amber, exuding magical charm,
A sparkling garnet’s energy, catches my mesmerised eyes,
As the mystical opal, wears a different look each time!

The jade spreads luck and love,
Silent, peaceful and serene
As do crystals of common quartz,
Spiritually awakening through devotion unseen!

Each one I see,
Wears one or more of these invisible jewels;
Cheerful yet oblivious,
To the powerful energies they dispel!

There’s so much light around,
I’m blinded yet empowered,
For each one I see,
Has something I should acquire!

And someday perhaps,
I’ll be one with the crowd;
Wearing my own glittering necklace
Spreading light all around!

The more I thought about gems, the more I realised each person around us is one – unique and precious, one unlike another - giving off some or the other form of energy. What better way to express the beauty of gems by observing their characteristics in people around us!

I am sure all of you have encountered a variety of gems in your life……Why not use this as an opportunity to remember all of them and associate them with the gem they represent!

Do think about it and catalog your thoughts in the comments section below – it could be a person you associate with a gem, or a gem you associate with a quality or anything that gems remind you of (except smarties and nestle of childhood days which I still enjoy by the way!!)

I really enjoyed writing this! Hope you enjoyed reading it as much!

Till next time, from slo, it's tally-ho!

Pensive moments, powerful moments!

Thoughts come, thoughts go,
Endless like waves on a sea shore;
Bubbling and foaming with might and vigour,
Calmly withering as they get closer;
No beginning, no end,
Always with some signal to send;
Sometimes a smile, sometimes a tear,
There’s no guessing which way they meander!

She feels the gentle wind in her hair,
The warmth of sunshine, behind clouds, ensnared;
Morning cuppa in hand,
By the windowsill she stands;
Million thoughts in her mind,
Entangling and playing, yet her face shows no sign;
She follows not the train of thought,
In which she was subconsciously lost!

He starts his car, after a tiring day,
Runs into traffic, while midway;
His mind wanders, vivid and bold,
Scenes from his life, before his eyes unfold;
The past that was or might have been,
The future that could be, that remains to be seen;
Unknown to himself, he thinks and believes,
Until the blaring horns snap him out of reverie!

Fleeting moments such as these,
On days as normal as could be;
Brief yet profound,
Deeply they resound;
For something within, is instantly awakened,
To an unknown possibility, waiting to happen;
Suddenly there is a change, of character or intent,
Magical as it may seem, all it took was a powerful moment!
And one such powerful moment is what it took - to make me get back to this blog! Its been "long" to say the least. My friend nailed it when he said, "The last thing you blogged about was doomsday. You know it didn't happen right?? Then why did it happen to your blog?!"
Yes, I was busy. No, I didn't stop writing. Yes, I stopped blogging everything I wrote. No, that wasn't unintentional! Yes, I am back! No, I am not promising to put up a-post-a-day or any of that naivete nonsense because I know I'll slink back to a hiatus. So yes, I will blog and hopefully more often. But no, that is not a commitment!
Coming back, I am a firm believer in the saying that life is not simply made up of a series of moments but it is certain moments that really make up life. The more I think of it, the more I am convinced that my entire life can be defined by a few hundred moments that have made me the person I am and I can say with some degree of conviction that it is the same with a lot of other people I know (maybe those I don't as well)! This poem is simply an attempt at paying a tribute to those defining moments in my life!
Cheers!
Till next time, from slo, its tally-ho!
