Finding the Secret Key!!

Helloooo after a long long time!! The last time I wrote was about gems and how each one of us is a gem waiting to sparkle and shine. This time, it's about finding the trigger that makes us click with some people more than others!

I had written this poem a long long time back and was pleasantly surprised to find it in the 'drafts' folder of my mailbox earlier this week when incidentally, I happened to be thinking about something very similar! Such is life :)

Finding the Secret Key!

In all the world, so wide and big;
Millions of people, different and unique
Each living their own story;
Puzzles to unlock, with a secret key.

Likes and dislikes, choices and preferences,
Styles and attitudes, habits and differences,
Myriad factors at perennial play,
Connecting people in a special way.

So many people in our lives,
It sure is then, no surprise,
That each of them gives different vibes
On a different strength, each relationship thrives.

Some are shy and always quiet,
While others like to talk and chat,
Some love sports, some love to laze,
Some love art or harbour some other craze.

Some believe in holding back, some love to let go,
Some need inspiration or advice, some just need company when bored,
Some are gung-ho, others may be recluse,
While some just go with the flow and often have no clue!

With some, we connect instantly,
With some, it takes a lifetime;
With some, we connect but there's an invisible wall,
With some others, we connect not at all!

So what is it that makes people click?
How is it that some relations stick?
Why do we love some people so?
Is it simply providence or something more?

The secret lies in knowing,
What makes people's hearts flutter;
It's all about discovering,
The little things that matter.

Of course, people are different,
That is how they are meant to be.
It's up to us to bridge the differences,
To find that elusive secret key!

Have fun everyone! And keep looking for the secret key to every person you meet!

Till next time, from slo, it's tally-ho!!! :) :)

Real life gems!

I have always been fascinated by gemstones and their mysterious powers. I had always hoped to someday write a poem on them. So here is one!

Each one I see!

I look around the world I live in,
And wonder about the people I see;
Each one wears a resplendent necklace
That shines through them at me!

Some wear a diamond, pure and true,
Some, a ruby, brimming with virtue,
I spot an amethyst, reflecting royal dignity
Oh! There’s the sapphire, radiating positivity!

Passion and insight emanate from someone’s pearl
Adventure and courage, from a gleaming coral,
The turquoise, yielding strength and security,
Matched evenly by the emerald, healing mind and body!

Some wear a topaz, cool and calm,
Some, an amber, exuding magical charm,
A sparkling garnet’s energy, catches my mesmerised eyes,
As the mystical opal, wears a different look each time!

The jade spreads luck and love,
Silent, peaceful and serene
As do crystals of common quartz,
Spiritually awakening through devotion unseen!

Each one I see,
Wears one or more of these invisible jewels;
Cheerful yet oblivious,
To the powerful energies they dispel!

There’s so much light around,
I’m blinded yet empowered,
For each one I see,
Has something I should acquire!

And someday perhaps,
I’ll be one with the crowd;
Wearing my own glittering necklace
Spreading light all around!

The more I thought about gems, the more I realised each person around us is one – unique and precious, one unlike another - giving off some or the other form of energy. What better way to express the beauty of gems by observing their characteristics in people around us!

I am sure all of you have encountered a variety of gems in your life……Why not use this as an opportunity to remember all of them and associate them with the gem they represent!

Do think about it and catalog your thoughts in the comments section below – it could be a person you associate with a gem, or a gem you associate with a quality or anything that gems remind you of (except smarties and nestle of childhood days which I still enjoy by the way!!)

I really enjoyed writing this! Hope you enjoyed reading it as much!

Till next time, from slo, it's tally-ho!

Pensive moments, powerful moments!

Thoughts come, thoughts go,
Endless like waves on a sea shore;
Bubbling and foaming with might and vigour,
Calmly withering as they get closer;
No beginning, no end,
Always with some signal to send;
Sometimes a smile, sometimes a tear,
There’s no guessing which way they meander!

She feels the gentle wind in her hair,
The warmth of sunshine, behind clouds, ensnared;
Morning cuppa in hand,
By the windowsill she stands;
Million thoughts in her mind,
Entangling and playing, yet her face shows no sign;
She follows not the train of thought,
In which she was subconsciously lost!

He starts his car, after a tiring day,
Runs into traffic, while midway;
His mind wanders, vivid and bold,
Scenes from his life, before his eyes unfold;
The past that was or might have been,
The future that could be, that remains to be seen;
Unknown to himself, he thinks and believes,
Until the blaring horns snap him out of reverie!

Fleeting moments such as these,
On days as normal as could be;
Brief yet profound,
Deeply they resound;
For something within, is instantly awakened,
To an unknown possibility, waiting to happen;
Suddenly there is a change, of character or intent,
Magical as it may seem, all it took was a powerful moment!
And one such powerful moment is what it took - to make me get back to this blog! Its been "long" to say the least. My friend nailed it when he said, "The last thing you blogged about was doomsday. You know it didn't happen right?? Then why did it happen to your blog?!"
Yes, I was busy. No, I didn't stop writing. Yes, I stopped blogging everything I wrote. No, that wasn't unintentional! Yes, I am back! No, I am not promising to put up a-post-a-day or any of that naivete nonsense because I know I'll slink back to a hiatus. So yes, I will blog and hopefully more often. But no, that is not a commitment!
Coming back, I am a firm believer in the saying that life is not simply made up of a series of moments but it is certain moments that really make up life. The more I think of it, the more I am convinced that my entire life can be defined by a few hundred moments that have made me the person I am and I can say with some degree of conviction that it is the same with a lot of other people I know (maybe those I don't as well)! This poem is simply an attempt at paying a tribute to those defining moments in my life!
Cheers!
Till next time, from slo, its tally-ho!

Sands of Time!

At long last, a revival to the blog with a small poem on the most elusive resource of all time - TIME! After all, isn't it what all of us crib about some way or the other - "Why is my 'time' so bad?!!", "When will this misery end?", "Why can't this moment continue forever!", "Oh those lovely days.....what amazing times....will they ever come back??!!", so on and so forth.......Maybe.....just maybe.....the answers to those questions are here in this poem!! Sit back and dwell on it.........and don't forget to tell me what you feel!!!!!
Sands of Time...... Watch the golden sand, glittering in the daylight;
Granular little crystals, being blown away by the wind's might.
Some onto another patch, as near or far as can be;
Some into the sea, to be deposited on another beach!
Day after day, the sands drift and fly,
In due course, travelling far and wide;
Sometimes by day, sometimes by night,
In stormy cyclones or in breezy delight!
Soon enough, another gust blows mercilessly by,
And the poor molecule finds itself back in time;
Where it earlier passively lay,
Waiting for the wind to blow it away!
Seconds fly, minutes roll by, before we know it, day melts into night.
Events of the day are absolved, yet some moments get etched into the mind!
Good days and bad, merry moments and sad, all come around to a converging point;
Before we know it, life comes a full circle, and the journey seems to have been, after all, a joyous ride!

Till next time, from slo it's tally-ho!
